Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library received the 2023 Future-Focused recognition through the North Dakota Library Coordinating Council and North Dakota State Library for achieving the Future-Focused level of library services according to North Dakota Standards for Public Libraries.
To be recognized as Future-Focused, a library must meet all standards at the Developing, Excelling, and Future-Focused service levels, each level gradually increasing in expectations. Service standard areas include programs, community outreach, local support, policies and procedures, budget management, and professional requirements for librarians.
Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library is one of six libraries to achieve this recognition in 2023. There are 83 public libraries in North Dakota, and levels are determined annually after the completion of the State Library’s Annual Report. Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library previously received the Future-Focused recognition in 2019, 2021, and 2022.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition on a statewide level,” said Christine Kujawa, Library Director. “The library’s team is dedicated to serving our community with open access to information and personal enrichment opportunities for all ages.”
