Residents who have hazardous waste to dispose of should move it to the top levels of their homes, if possible.
Examples of hazardous materials include:
• Solvents
• Paint
• Paint Thinners
• Pesticides
• Fertilizers
• Household cleaners
• Drain Cleaners
• Antifreeze
When moving these chemicals to a higher location, take the following safety precautions:
• Keep chemicals in their original containers.
• Make sure they are closed tightly and labeled.
• Do not mix chemicals.
• Place the containers in tubs or trays. You can use a heavy duty plastic bag as a liner.
Items such as vehicle batteries, oil or gas cans, pool chemical containers, or propane tanks should also be moved to higher ground because they pose a danger if their contents are released and move into buildings.
The Bismarck Landfill will not be accepting residential garbage until further notice. We ask that citizens do not bring residential garbage to the landfill. The landfill will accept Commercial garbage trucks ONLY. Only garbage trucks will be allowed.
