[ARCHIVED] Arrest Made in Planet Fitness Recording Case

Bismarck Police took Layton Kessler, 45, of Bismarck into custody yesterday evening after a arrest warrant was issued for four counts of Surreptitious Intrusion.  Kessler is being investigated for allegedly placing a hidden camera into a tanning bed room at Planet Fitness.

Around 2:30 pm yesterday, a search warrant was conducted at Kessler’s residence. Detectives seized more electronics and will forensically examine those in the coming days. The original recording device showed four different women, and investigators are attempting to identify them and make contact as they do that. Bismarck Police Department has kept a log of possible victims that have contacted our department and Central Dakota Communications Center to assist with identification.

Kessler was taken to Burleigh Morton Detention Center shortly before 5:00 pm and is being held until he sees a judge.
