At approximately 2:50 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2020 the Central Dakota Communications Center received report of a garden shed that was on fire in the alley behind a single-family home at the 1300 Block of West Avenue A. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched, along with the Bismarck Police Department and Metro Ambulance.
The first arriving crews stated that they had smoke showing from behind the home, the garden shed had been fully engulfed in fire with neighbors using a garden hose to extinguish. An attack line was deployed to complete extinguishment. Crews had the fire extinguished approximately 5 minutes after arrival, and remained on scene for some time to complete overhaul operations in order to ensure complete extinguishment.
Per Bismarck Fire Department fire investigators, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
6 fire department apparatus and 16 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control and investigation. Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide medical support should it be required. MDU was called to the scene to secure the utilities.
There were no injuries to any civilians or fire personnel. The occupants of the home have not been displaced, due to the fire and smoke damage.
