The City of Bismarck will hold an update discussion, Wed. August 1, from 2 – 4 P.M. at Public Works, 601 South 26th Street to receive additional community stakeholder input on water, sewer, and stormwater rates. The upcoming meeting is part of Phase II of the project and will discuss current and projected resources as well as expenditure requirements of each utility system and present its findings.
The discussion will include the following:
• Identification of current resources (cash balances)
• Discussion of current customer statistics by class, trends, and revenue generated from current rates for each system
• Review of the operating expenditure requirements of each utility (types/categories of expenses and totals)
• Discussion of annual capital improvement requirements and funding sources for each system
• Review of initial financial management plans for each utility
The city will hold future update sessions in coming months that will include such topics as cost allocation, rate structure, other fees and charges, and expects to finalize the process in November.
