The City of Bismarck Employees Active and Thriving (BEAT) workplace wellness program and Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health received a workplace wellness award the second year in a row at the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Workplace Wellness Summit Oct. 3, 2017. The Worksite Wellness Award is based on evidence-based criteria and best practices that are essential for a successful worksite wellness program. BEAT and Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health were awarded for "Creating a culture of health and demonstrating a commitment to the health and well-being of their employees."

The North Dakota Worksite Wellness Initiative is part of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, which seeks to identify and offer solutions to making healthy choices in the workplace and help control health care costs.
