Bismarck Police have made at least 33 arrests today at Kirkwood Mall for criminal trespass involving pipeline protestors.
At 12:48 p.m. Bismarck Police responded to the inside of Kirkwood Mall near Target, where at least 100 protestors were gathering. Kirkwood Mall is PRIVATE PROPERTY. Kirkwood Mall management advised BPD they would not allow any protest activities, nor any open prayer services in or on their property. Kirkwood Mall informed police that if any of these activities occur on or in their property that any individual(s) involved need to be told to leave Kirkwood Mall property.
The protestors formed a prayer circle. All people involved in this protest activity were warned numerous times they had to leave or they would be arrested. Officers on scene then made arrests for any individuals who were refusing to leave the property. At least 33 people have been arrested, most inside the mall.
Police remain on the scene and are monitoring the situation. Kirkwood Mall never closed and is open for business.
