[ARCHIVED] Police Release Stolen Vehicle Suspect Named

The Bismarck Police Department has released the name of the man arrested early Saturday morning in Emmons County. He is Miguel Angel Stubing, 18 years old. He has been charged with Theft of Property (Count 1), Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer (Count 2), Reckless Endangerment (Counts 3 & 4), and Reckless Driving (Count 5).
On Saturday morning at 2:37 a.m., Bismarck Police responded to a third party report of a stolen vehicle out of Mandan. Bismarck Police Sgt. Jordan West located the stolen vehicle in the area of the 1100 block of South 3rd Street, and gave verbal commands to the driver. The driver ignored commands and drove the vehicle at Sgt. West. Sgt. West discharged his weapon into the vehicle to protect himself. The vehicle fled the scene and was stopped by law enforcement in Emmons County. The suspect was found to have two gunshot wounds and was airlifted to a Bismarck hospital.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has been called to investigate. Sgt. West was not injured. Per department policy, he has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
Sgt. West has been employed with the Bismarck Police Department for six years.
The case is under investigation.
