[ARCHIVED] 2015 Transit Operating Grant Proposal

Notice is hereby given that the City of Bismarck, through the Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), will hold a public meeting as part of the Bismarck Board of City Commissioners meeting on March 24, 2015 at 5:15 pm in the Tom Baker Meeting Room in the City/County Office Building located at 221 N. 5th Street, Bismarck, ND, with the purpose of providing an opportunity for public review and comment on the 2015 Transit Operating Grant proposal.

The purpose of the grant is for securing federal funding for operating assistance and capital procurement under 5307 of the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21). The project is described as follows:

(1) Applicant: City of Bismarck; Project Year: 2015; Transportation Operator: Bis-Man Transit;
Purpose: Operating assistance (for both fixed route and demand/response systems) and also for preventive maintenance.

(2) Service Area of Project: Bis-Man Transit service areas.

(3) Estimated Total Project Cost = $1,935,910.00

Federal Share of Project = $1,057.955.00

Local Share of Project = $877,955.00

No persons, families, or businesses will be displaced by this project. No significant adverse environmental impact is expected as a result of this project. The project is in conformance with comprehensive land use and the Long Range Transportation Plan and is consistent with the adopted programming of projects in the Transportation Improvement Program.

This project will directly benefit the elderly and handicapped since it will provide them with transportation to medical appointments, school, social engagements, and to work. Vehicles will be handicapped accessible. Standard fares will be charged for transportation under this project.

The public is invited to attend the public meeting or submit written comments to the Metropolitan Planning Organization no later than 4:00 pm, March 23, 2015, to PO Box 5503, Bismarck, ND, 58506. If no amendments or changes are made to the Program of Projects this notice will also serve as the Final Program of Projects.
