[ARCHIVED] Crime Alert - 2413 N 8th ST

The Crime: The Bismarck Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect where a purse was stolen. On March 14th at 1:15 am, a woman was at the Sports Page. A man she did not know offered her $20 if she would give him a ride home. She dropped this man off in the area of the 800 block of East Interstate Avenue. He entered the apartment building at 2413 North 8th Street. When she got home she noticed her purse was gone from the backseat where the man had been sitting she believes he stole it. Her credit cards were used later that morning three times; at Simonson’s North, Hardees and Petro Store.

The Suspect: The suspect is described as a white male, 21 to 29 years old, 6’00”, 260 pounds, chubby build with pot belly, sandy blond hair wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt. His first name may be Tyler. The stolen purse is gray with a black square pattern. Possibly drives a Tahoe or Suburban.

If you have information: If you have information on this crime, please call the Bismarck Police Department at 223-1212. Tell the operator you have information about case number 14-4432. To report information anonymously on this crime or any other crime, call Crime Stoppers at 224-TIPS (224-8477).

Prevention:
• We’ve all heard the warning “Don’t pick up hitchhikers.” Seems pretty obvious, but don’t give rides to people you don’t know.
• Keep as few credit cards in your purse or wallet as possible to minimize your loss if it is stolen. In this case the woman’s purse contained 10 credit cards, which she has had to cancel and have new ones issued.
