Parking violation fines in signed, timed parking zones in downtown Bismarck will increase by $5.00 for each level of violation, effective Monday, July 16, 2012. The increase in timed parking zone fines was recommended by the Bismarck Downtown Parking Task Force and supported by the Downtown Business Association in an effort to deter downtown parking abuses and was approved by the Bismarck Board of City Commissioners at the June 26, 2012 meeting.
The downtown parking area affected by the increased parking violation fines is designated as follows: the area bounded by Washington Street on the west, Twelfth Street on the east, Avenue B on the north, and the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks on the South, where signed, in timed parking zones. The increased parking violation fine area designated is subject to change on the basis of engineering and traffic investigations. Increased parking violation fines within the designated downtown area are to exclude non-timed offenses. A map illustrating the downtown parking time zones affected can be found at http://www.bismarck.org/DocumentView.aspx?DID=4573
