The City of Bismarck announced today the introduction of its new Share the Road Bicycle Route. “Bike to Work Week, May 14-18, provides a timely opportunity for the introduction and kick-off of Bismarck’s new bike route, Share the Road Pilot Project, and our partnership with the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT),” said Mike Seminary, Bismarck City Commissioner. “Bismarck is a Share the Road Community and safety is a top priority for all users of roadways in our community.”
“The new share the road signs are up, and very soon you will see bicycle lanes and shared lane markings on the new bike route on Bismarck streets complementing the extensive multi-use trail system in the community and linking existing multi-use trails to downtown, employment, retail, and recreation areas,” said Ben Ehreth, Transportation Planner.
Bismarck has a new “Share the Road” webpage on the City web site where you can get the new bike route, local bike trail information and important safety tips for bicyclists and motorists. www.bismarck.org/sharetheroad
“All users of our city streets must be responsible, alert and more aware and this will require mindfulness for all users of our roadways,” said Seminary. Bicycling is a healthy, clean, economical, and fun transportation alternative that enhances your physical health, mental outlook and overall quality of life. Share the road safely and enjoy the ride!
