[ARCHIVED] Mitigation Displays At Bismarck Flood Recovery Series

Experts in hazard mitigation building techniques will be available at two separate Flood Recovery workshops sponsored by the Burleigh County Extension office. Information will be provided to North Dakotans on making repairs to current damage and ways to protect homes from future flood damage. The subjects, times and locations are:

Flooded Home Clean-Up
Thursday, Aug. 18, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Bismarck State College, 1500 Edwards Ave., Bismarck
National Energy Center for Excellence Auditorium (Room 304)

A sump pump, backflow valve and floor drain float plug will be on display to help generate ideas on ways to protect homes from future damage. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mitigation experts will offer one-on-one advice and valuable home improvement tips.

Free publications will be available about mold and mildew cleanup, National Flood Insurance Program and mitigation ideas for reducing flood loss. FEMA Community Relations specialists will be on hand to explain the registration process and answer questions.

Calling any other local or state disaster hotline will not get you registered for FEMA assistance.
