[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department Responds to Refuse Fire

BISMARCK, ND - This morning, the Bismarck Fire Department extinguished a refuse pile fire at a property on 900 block of S 26th St in Bismarck.   

At approximately 9:40 AM on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, the Bismarck Fire Department received a call for a semi-truck on fire. Bismarck fire crews were dispatched to the scene.  

Firefighters arrived on the scene at approximately 9:45 AM to find a privately owned garbage truck that had dumped its load in a parking lot. The load of material that was dumped was fully involved in fire. Fire crews confirmed there was no threat to buildings on the property and deployed hose lines to extinguish the fire. A Public Works loader was dispatched to spread the pile to assist with extinguishment. The load was overhauled to find and extinguish any remaining smoldering materials. 

No injuries were reported to the truck driver or to firefighters.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
