There is a vital need for volunteers to assist in filling sandbags at both of the city’s Sandbag Central Sites. Between 100 and 150 volunteers are needed at each site.
Sandbag Central Sites are located at:
• Sandbag Central South, Northern Plains Commerce Center (1901 Northern Plains Drive).
• Sandbag Central North, Missouri Valley Fairgrounds (3805 E. Bismarck Expressway)
Both sites are open 24 hours a day. All volunteers must register before they can start working. Volunteers under age 18 must have a parental consent form signed. A link to this form is at the bottom of this page.
To ease traffic and parking issues at the site, volunteers are asked NOT to drive there, but instead, to meet in the southeast corner of the Kirkwood Mall parking lot (JC Penney wing). CAT busses are transporting volunteers from the mall to the sandbag sites where volunteers are needed. Buses are running every 20-30 minutes until midnight. After that, volunteers should call Taxi 9000 at 223-9000 for transportation to sandbag sites.
