The filled sandbag site at Bismarck Public Schools Facilities and Transportations Building on south 9th street has been temporarily closed.
More than 80,000 filled sandbags were available at this site at 7:00 this morning. All 80,000 sandbags were gone by 10:00.
Volunteers are needed at the city’s other sandbag filling sites.
• Missouri Valley Fairgrounds (3805 E. Bismarck Expressway) - open 24 hours a day.
• Sandbag Central South Northern Plains Commerce Center (1901 Northern Plains Drive) - open 24 hours a day.
• Ash Coulee Water Tower, West of Washington Street on Ash Coulee Drive
• Santa Fe Avenue, Cottonwood Complex west of South 12th Street
• Whispering Bay Subdivision, Shoreline Circle
• 48th Avenue and Sibley Drive (this site was previously located at Sibley Drive and Hester Drive)
• Ponderosa Park
• Hogue Island Boat Ramp
Volunteers must register before they begin filling sandbags. Volunteers are asked to bring a shovel and gloves. Parental consent is required for those under age 18. Consent forms are available at both Sandbag Central and Sandbag Central South.
