[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to attic fire

At approximately 1:00 AM on Sunday, March 21, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of smoke coming from a meter in a home located on the 1200 block of First St. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to investigate. The first arriving fire crew arrived on scene to find that the occupants had evacuated the home, and smoke coming from vents in the roof.


The fire crews found no fire in the occupied floors of the home. They went to the attic to investigate. In the attic they found a section of charred wood and smoldering insulation. Those items were extinguished and removed from the home.


Six fire department apparatus and 19 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene. Metro Area Ambulance Service assisted on scene. The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control. Crisis Care Chaplaincy provided assistance to the homeowners. There were no injuries to any occupants or first responders. The occupants of the home were temporarily displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to be accidental in nature.
