[ARCHIVED] Apple Crunch Off: Biting into Local

BISMARCK, N.D.—Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health, along with the BisMan Community Food Co-op and Go! Bismarck Mandan, are joining schools, preschools, nonprofits and local food enthusiasts in celebrating Farm to School Month by competing in a nine-state Crunch Off competition!

North Dakota is competing against states throughout the Mountain Plains Region which includes: Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming, to see which State can get the most “crunches” into a local apple at the same time.

Crunch with us on Wednesday, October 16 at 9:30 A.M. inside the BisMan Community Food Co-op, 711 E Sweet Ave., Bismarck, N.D. The Community Crunch event encourages healthy eating, supports local agriculture and helps community members gain a deeper understanding of the food system.

Help celebrate Farm to School month and show your love for local foods by joining our Apple Crunch Off event! For more information about the Community Crunch event, please contact Katie Johnke, RDN, LRD at 355-1555, kjohnke@bismarcknd.gov or visit www.bismarcknd.gov.
