[ARCHIVED] Bismarck City Election Activities

Bismarck City Election activities begin January 1, 2014.

Important dates to keep in mind Municipal elections are held the second Tuesday in June of even-numbered years in conjunction with the state primary election. This year Election Day is June 10, 2014.

In 2014, the following officers will be elected:

One (1) Mayor

Two (2) Members of the Board of City Commissioners

Three (3) Members of the Board of Park Commissioners

On Wednesday, January 1, 2014, candidates for public offices may start collecting signatures. Packets are ready to be picked up at the office of City Administration at 221North 5th Street. Candidates must be over age 18 and have been a resident of the City of Bismarck for at least nine months prior to the election.

Monday, April 7, 2014, is the filing deadline for the election. To get on the ballot, candidates must collect 300 signatures from Bismarck residents. Election administrators suggest collecting up to 350 signatures and turning in petitions at least one day before the deadline since some signatures may be eliminated for not being valid city residents.

Notice: Only complete addresses are accepted. Post office boxes are not considered a valid address.
