Fox Island and Southport will be open permanently at noon August 18. The Fox Island gate will be open and removed at a later date, and the checkpoint will be discontinued at the Riverwood Drive entrance to Southport. Law enforcement mutually agreed to follow this process when the Missouri River gauge reading fell below the flood stage of 16’. The area will be posted for local traffic only and those who are not residents or having legitimate business in the area are asked to stay away.
Mills Avenue will be closed from 9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. for safety reasons due to the narrow roadway.
Residents who received a gate card need to return their card to the Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department.
Voluntary evacuation status for Southport has also been removed.
