The Bismarck Police Department Bomb Squad consists of six members. Officer Kendall Vetter is the Bomb Squad Commander.
When the Bomb Squad is called to a situation, they will use at least two of the members for the problem. They work in a team to support each other and to assist in resolving the situation. Officer Vetter responds with the team to support them, make decisions, and to accept responsibility for their actions.
They have specialized equipment that they use in all areas of their work and are on an on-call basis twenty-four hours a day. They train all year except for the summer months. They also respond to bomb calls for other agencies upon formal request and authorization.
