How many hoopla titles can I borrow?
Each library card is entitled to five hoopla borrows per month. Borrows re-set at 12:00am on the first day of each month.
Do I have to place titles on hold or wait in line?
No. All hoopla titles are always available to borrow without holds or waitlists.
When I try to borrow, I get a message that says "The collective daily borrow limit set by your library has been reached and will reset at midnight. Please browse and add titles to favorites so you can easily access them after midnight." What does this mean, and why can't I borrow anything right now?
The library is charged a set amount for each item our patrons borrow. We have a maximum spending amount set for each day, and once patrons borrow enough items to reach that limit, no more items may be borrowed by BVMPL patrons that day.
Can I renew hoopla items?
There are no renewals. If you wish to borrow the item again, you can do so using one of your remaining five monthly borrows.
How long can I borrow hoopla items?
Ebooks, audiobooks, and comics - 21 days
Music - 7 days
Videos - 3 days
How can I get technical assistance with hoopla?
You can ask support questions directly to hoopla using the Submit Feedback link, which can be found by clicking on the question mark icon under Settings in the hoopla app.
How does Kanopy borrowing work?
Each library card is granted 10 tickets per month. Most Kanopy titles "cost" two tickets to borrow and are available to watch for 72 hours after borrowing. A full season of a tv series is five tickets to borrow and is available for 14 days. Some titles can be borrowed for zero tickets. Each title in the Kanopy catalog will indicate the number of tickets required.
Can I download Kanopy videos to watch offline?
No. All Kanopy content is streaming only, so an internet or data connection is required to watch.
Which devices can I use to stream from Kanopy?
Stream Kanopy from most TVs and mobile devices, including iOS, Android, Amazon Fire tablets, Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, and more.
What is Kanopy Kids?
Kanopy Kids is Kanopy's curated collection of content for children, with a focus on ages 2-8. Within the Kanopy Kids section, you'll find only age-appropriate content that allows unlimited viewing. Access Kanopy Kids by clicking on Kids in the top-right corner of the homepage. Or, in the mobile app, tap More at the bottom of the screen then Go to Kanopy Kids. You can set up parental controls to ensure children can't view content outside of Kanopy Kids. While parental controls are enabled, a PIN is required to exit Kanopy Kids. When searching for content outside of Kanopy Kids, you may see titles with a "Kids" tag. Even when you're not in the Kanopy Kids section, watching Kanopy Kids titles doesn't consume tickets.
