Get A Library Card

Puppet Holding Library CardLibrary cards are free to Burleigh County residents. Become a cardholder by coming in person to the library or by applying online. With your BVMPL library card, you can borrow for free from our top-notch collection of books, movies, magazines, and so much more, as well as items from our partner libraries in the Central Dakota Library Network. You can also access research databases and our digital library.

Identification Requirements

A current and valid driver's license or non-driver identification card is required to obtain a library card. If your driver's license or photo ID card does not reflect your current permanent address, proof of permanent address may be provided by presenting a utility bill, piece of mail, or other document indicating the address.  If you registered online, you will be asked to show your ID and proof of address when you come in to pick up your library card.

Youth Library Cards

Youth under age 18 will need a parent or guardian's permission to obtain a library card. Proof of identification may be made by providing a valid photo ID and proof of address or by having a parent or legal guardian provide a valid photo ID and proof of address.

Nonresident Library Cards

If you live outside of Burleigh County, you may register for a non-resident card for $50 per year. If you don't have a permanent address or are in the area for a short period of time, please see us at the library.

Apply Online

It's easy! Complete the online application form, then stop by the library with a valid photo ID (and proof of current address, if it's not on your ID) to pick up your card and start borrowing.
