Public Records Request

A Fire Incident Report is generated by the Fire Department each time a piece of fire apparatus is dispatched to assist with a fire, hazardous materials incident, rescue, or other dangerous situation. Fire incident reports are public records, available upon request to anyone.

A Fire Investigation Report is generated when Fire Investigators are dispatched to perform an origin and cause investigation.  To determine the availability of a Fire Investigation Report, please call the Bismarck Fire Department at (701) 355-1400. Please note: Depending on the complexity and other factors of an incident, a Fire Investigation Report may not be completed for weeks or months.

A patient care report is generated whenever the Fire Department assists a sick or injured person. These reports contain confidential medical information and are not part of the public record. Copies of patient care records are available to our patients and their representatives.

To request a report, you may call Bismarck Fire Department at 701-355-1400, or you may submit a written request, which must include the nature of the call, date, and address of the incident.
