Healthy Communities

A community health needs assessment provides the foundation for improving and promoting the health of the community. The assessment identifies and describes factors that affect the health of a population, and factors that determine the availability of resources within the community to adequately address health concerns.

Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health is conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment through a collaborative effort with Custer Health, CHI St. Alexius Health and Sanford Health.

Following past survey and prioritization of the health needs identified through the survey process, Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health chose concerns as priorities to be included in the department’s strategic plan. The community health improvement plan summarized the process and outlined the strategies to address the concerns.

2019-2021 Community Priorities Included:

  • Access to Affordable Healthcare
  • Behavioral Health & Addiction
  • Cost of Care & Services for the Aging Population
  • Chronic Disease & Obesity
