Officer Responsibilities
There are two officers and one Sergeant assigned to The Bismarck Police Department’s Crime Prevention and Community Engagement Section. The primary duties of the section is to assist the community through education and resources to help reduce crime victimization while also developing and maintaining positive relationships between law enforcement and the community of Bismarck. The section also provides support for other divisions within the department with the various resources they have access to.
To obtain any of the services or for other information, call the Crime Prevention/Community Engagement Section as 701-223-1212. If they cannot answer your question or provide the services requested, you will be directed to the agency that will be able to assist you. The section hours are generally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. However, arrangements can be made for presentations at other times, if necessary.
Sgt. Dustin Miller
The Sergeant of Crime Prevention and Community Engagement plays a vital role in fostering positive relationships between our law enforcement agency and the communities we serve. Sgt. Miller is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to prevent crime, enhance safety, and promote community engagement and trust. Sgt. Miller oversees two officers dedicated to crime prevention initiatives and community outreach efforts. Sgt. Miller is also the supervisor of our Evidence Section and Commander of our Unmanned Aircraft Systems Team.
Officer Caity Horne
Officer Caity Horne is dedicated to fostering positive community engagement and narrowing the divide between law enforcement and the community she serves. As the Community Engagement Officer, she coordinates a wide variety of events, including the Bismarck Police Department Community Picnic, the Citizen Police Academy, the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive, Brave the Shave, Bike with the Blue, and many others. She also manages several key programs, such as the Park Patrol program, bike registration program, and online reporting system. In addition to her event and program coordination, Officer Horne serves as the department’s LGBTQ Liaison, conducts building tours, and delivers engaging presentations in elementary schools to promote safety, trust, and understanding. Through her work, she strives to strengthen community partnerships and create lasting, positive connections between the department and the citizens of Bismarck.
Officer Jazmine Hayden
Officer Hayden’s primary goal is to increase community awareness and motivate citizens to become actively involved in helping to reduce crime. She is focused on deterring crime while also being a helping hand to residents and business owners in Bismarck. Officer Hayden holds presentations on frauds, scams, thefts, internet safety and more for individuals of all ages. She provides tips for keeping you and your valuables as safe as you can be. Officer Hayden is also out in the public eye, helping businesses with surveillance survey’s, house checks, foot patrol and other activities put on by the Bismarck Police Department. Officer Hayden is the Treatment Court Liaison for the department. Officer Hayden is dedicated to helping you and your loved ones stay safe and keeping you aware of local crime trends..
