Dog/Cat Licenses                                                                                                                                                       

All dogs and cats residing within the Bismarck city limits and over the age of 6 months are to be licensed with the City of Bismarck.  Licenses may be obtained at the Bismarck Police Department.  Licenses are also available at some veterinary offices in Bismarck.

Hours:   8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday

Fees:     $6.00 per year if neutered/spayed
                $18.00 per year if not neutered/spayed

Documents needed:      

• Current rabies vaccination certificate (license expiration date cannot go beyond the rabies vaccination expiration date so fees can be prorated accordingly)
• Neuter/Spay certificate if not noted on Rabies Vaccination Certificate

Dog/Cat Impound Fees                                                                                                                                              

You may contact the Bismarck Police Department to see if your pet has been impounded.

Hours:  Impounded animals can be picked up at any time.

Fees:     $35.00 Impound Fee (if animal is not wearing city license tag)      
$15.00 Impound Fee (if animal is wearing city license tag)
$20.00 Boarding Fee per day
***Fees must be paid at the Bismarck Police Department prior to the animal being picked up.  (Payable to the City of Bismarck)

Vehicle Impounds                                                                                                                                                      

Only the Registered Owner may pick up an impounded vehicle.  
***Fees must be paid at the Bismarck Police Department before the vehicle can be picked up. (Payable to the City of Bismarck)

Fees:     $30.00 Impound Fee
Towing Charge varies (depends on vehicle, etc.)

Vehicle storage fees:

Days 1-30 = $10/day

Days 31+=$35/day

Criminal report – First 10 pages copied no fee. Subsequent pages are charged at $0.25 per page.

 Applications may be obtained at the Bismarck Police Department for the purposes of: Carnivals, circuses, roller skating, sound trucks, parades, requests for special policing assemblies and demonstrations, races, sales and solicitations.
