During an emergency event, communication (even between individuals in the same building) can often be the most challenging aspect of a response.

To help streamline this process, EPR is encouraging health providers and long term care facilities to utilize an emergency mass communication platform called Regroup if they are not already utilizing a communication platform. Regroup serves as an automated calling tree that can reach staff and/or clients via phone, email and/or text messaging.

If you are interested in learning more about Regroup and how your organization can benefit from this service, contact Crystalynn Kuntz (701-355-1546) or Kalen Ost (701-355-1556) to schedule an appointment.

While there is not a monetary cost associated with Regroup, organizations will be required to keep their contact lists up to date and test them at least 4 times annually. Drills are conducted on a semi-blind basis to better simulate an emergency situation. Your organization will let EPR know the week you'd like to have the list tested. EPR will then conduct the list test at a time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., on a random day, Monday through Friday.

Test messages will be designated as such and will be sent out similar to this example message:

This is a North Dakota Health Alert Network TEST Message.  Had this been a real emergency, information would have been shared about an incident and/or how to proceed.

Emergency Events

In the event of an emergency, participating organizations will contact State Radio and relay pertinent information about the location and type of emergency. Examples of situations to use Regroup would include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Tornado
  • Shelter in Place
  • Active Shooter
  • Flood
  • Fire

To save time, each organization is encouraged to create a handful of generic, canned messages that will help save time during an emergency.

Finally, you will not be required to contact EPR staff in the event of an emergency. EPR staff will be attached to your contact list and will subsequently be notified in the event of an emergency.
