The most common disease in Bismarck every year is Dutch Elm Disease (DED). Approximately thirty Elm trees are removed in Bismarck each year due to DED. Click here to view the map showing the history of DED.
The Forestry Division is also on watch for Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). EAB attacks Ash (Fraxinus) trees. It has not been found in the State of North Dakota; however, EAB has been found in other Midwest States, including Minnesota and South Dakota..
